Maki Ishii — After the Forest Fire

After the Forest Fire for marimba, flute and cello by Michael Torke is written for a unique group of instruments that together create a beautiful, lush timbre. This piece was written by Michael Torke for marimbist Makoto Nakamura.

Torke is one of the most celebrated American composers. Such pieces as “Javelin” (composed for the official 1996 Atlanta Olympics album) and “Four Seasons” (commissioned by Walt Disney Company) brought him wider recognition as a standard-bearer of contemporary American music.
