Description: Footpath is a marimba solo of intermediate difficulty. The piece is a transcription of an improvisation performed by Dave Samuels on his album “Ten Degrees North”. It revolves around three themes and the variations upon them devised by Samuels. As is always true with improvised music, there are many other ways one could play these themes, and the piece can serve as a gateway for classical percussionists to think about improvisation. Footpath requires 4 mallet playing, but only a 4.3 octave marimba.
