Thread and Fray is scored for viola, bass clarinet, and five-octave marimba. \u00a0As the title implies, the work weaves long lines that intertwine to create a rich timbral fabric. \u00a0There are moments when rhythmic and harmonic dissonances create \u201cfrays\u201d in that fabric, but a beautiful tapestry is still created.<\/p>\n
Thread and Fray was written for the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble.<\/p>\n
