The original title that I had in mind was Marimba D&#8217;Amore. However, out of respect and admiration for Keiko Abe (who already had a piece by that title) I decided to rename this work. The idea that the marimba is the wood that sings, has always been a very important concept to me, so that is how I arrived at the title. I also had in mind some of the very beautiful and lyrical works for solo guitar by composers such as Villa Lobos, Granados, and many others.
