Air Sculpture

David Friedman

This piece was first performed as an improvised solo by the composer on his album of the same name and was later transcribed for publication. The structure of the piece alternates between freely flowing sections of fast16th notes, and a slower more tonal and groovy section mostly in C major. It is recommend to study the recording as much as the score as much of the feel and the movement of the piece cannot be understood from the music alone.  Once this is done, ‘Air Sculpture’ opens up a whole world of different interpretations and a great chance to explore rhythmic feel.
