The first part of the book includes text on the history, construction and sound of the drums as well as characteristic rhythms and suitable sticks to be used by the timpanist. The second part of the book includes exercises that develop facitlity at almost every rhythm imaginable as well as playing these rhythms drum to drum (first with two drums, then three, then four). In between exercises are a number of etudes (155 in total) each focusing on the rhythms initiated in the previous section’s exercises. All in all this book can be a very valuable resource for a timpanist’s rhythmic development and timing.
